Library Services
Fiction and non-fiction books
Browse juvenile, young adult, and adult sections for both fiction and non-fiction. Our children's area is bright and lively, with wall murals and comfy seating. All areas of the library provide seating areas, tables and alcoves to accommodate both private reading and "spreading-out" space.
Large-print books (and magnifier!)
In addition to large-print adult fiction and magazines, the Library has a wonderful tool for readers and researchers who could use a little visual help. We have a tabletop magnifier that gives you choice of magnification levels to make any print material easier to read. Bring your own maps or materials, or use the magnifier with any of our print resources.
Magazines and periodicals
From Newsweek to the Grapeland Messenger and Smithsonian, we maintain a variety of magazine and newspaper subscriptions to help you stay informed and entertained. Local, national, historical, specific interests ... we have a nice range of subjects to read about!
Local historical and genealogical resources
We maintain a collection of local records, including cemetery and war records for Houston County, local lodge histories, family genealogies, etc. The Library also makes available a host of tools and references for doing your own genealogical research, including TexShare databases, which entitle library patrons to huge genealogy databases.
Technology
TexShare Databases
This vast collection of online databases may be the most important research tool we offer!
